Farewell Rolling Joy

Well I guess it is time for an update.

After leaving Tuscon, we drove Rolling Joy back up to Colorado Springs stopping in Roswell, New Mexico first to see some aliens. We stayed a few months in the Springs- only got snowed on a few times- before heading back to our point of origin, Rapid City. Mom’s sister came to visit with news that she would be deploying for six months in September.

Nixie and I both got our braces off and drove back to Colorado in the Prius to stay with our dad for the summer.

Jeff applied for a job in Spokane, Washington flying planes for FedEx. He drove the RV over while Mom worked for Civil Air Patrol a few more weeks. She came to pick us up and drive through to Washington and then a ferry ride to CANADA!

We visited our good friend from the Philippines in Victoria. Ah, some place I actually have pictures of. Sarah, Nixie, and I picked blackberries and a few peaches from their back yard to make a wonderful summer cobbler.

It was the perfect ending to the summer.

We started school again in August in our new apartment. Yes. I know. Rolling Joy rolls no more. The year of traveling was remarkable and an experience we will never forget but the weather had started cooling down again and we were not looking forward to a Spokane winter in the RV. And we couldn’t ship the RV to Hawaii…

That’s right! We volunteered to help Aunt K out by watching her house while she is deployed. Gizmo came with too. I am having a wonderful time here πŸ™‚ Our grandparents took us on a cruise around the islands, I got my first job bagging groceries at the Hickam commissary, and Wyatt is coming to visit soon. Hawaii is paradise.

Here are some pics from the cruise ->

So here is to many more adventures to come! xox Iz

  1. I loved the update and the photos. I liked the raindrops on the leaf, that was very artistic. Did you send it to Jonah, I”m pretty sure he’s be jealous. Enjoy your visit with Wyatt, Dad and Nikki. I know they were all excited.. I’m sure you’ll have a blast and enjoy Hawaii you lucky girl. And keep those pictures coming, you have a gift my dear!

  2. Izzy, the pictures are incredible. They look like pages out of a National Geographic magazine. I envy, and admire your talent. I also envy your location, and that you’ll be seeing little Wyatt soon.
    Love you, girls!

PS-I went through major Spit withdrawal after our visit last summer!

    • Thank you! πŸ™‚ Which is your favorite? I am in love with the way the last one of my cousin, Jackson, turned out. I am actually trying to start a photo journal blog and hopefully stay a little more frequent than CC πŸ˜›
I am so excited to see Wyatt ❀ I cannot believe he will be turning one on this visit!
Miss you oodles ❀ Hopefully we will see you in May… ! Xox, Iz

      • Oh, wow. It’s hard to say which I are my favorites, as they’re all such quality shots. I like close-up shots revealing details, such as the roof shingles, and the leaves with water droplets on them. I do have a few favorites, though.

The black & white one with the curved higway is simple, yet seems to offer the mind a promise of adventures to come.

Though I’m creeped out by spiders (though maybe not to the extent of Nikki, lol), I really like the spider web picture.

Another favorite, probably my most fave, is the picture of the little red building (house? chapel?). The picture gives the illusion of happening upon something unexpected, and almost magical.

I agree with you that you captured a great shot of your little cousin, too.

I hope you do follow through with a photo journal blog. I’d love to see more of your photography.

Give Wyatt lots of cuddles and kisses from his Mimi. You guys are going to have so much fun together. He’s such a character. πŸ˜‰

Looking forward to May, to the arrival of your new little sib, and to resuming our nightly Spit ritual. What can I say? I’m a glutton for punishment, as we know I never win. ;Þ
